The Debate

F, 2018, emergency heat blanket, 5’x 7′

USA flag made out of an emergency heat blanket. This blanket is provided to the kids that are being separated by their parents at the USA borders. The fragility of the material visualizes the dangerously fragile current political situation. In a period when racism, xenophobia, sexism and political instability are rising in America.

The Debate Performance, 2019, The Immigrant Artist Biennial, Art & Social Activism Festival, curated by Katya Grokhovsky

“The Debate” performance aims to confront the American politics around the refugee crisis at the Mexican border and the living conditions at the Detention Centers. During the performance, I drew the symbols of the Democratic and Republican parties on an emergency heat blanket, identical to those provided to children and adults at the USA Detention Centers. The action challenged the audience to take action and personal responsibility towards this humanitarian crisis.
