Fragile Monuments

The “Fragile Monuments” was developed at the Venice International Performance Art Week, Co-Creation Live Factory “Dissenting Bodies-Marking Time”, in January 2020, after an intense workshop with Marilyn Arsem. The piece is about the fragility of Venice and of the human body. As a cancer patient, I wanted to see my body as a cultural monument that needs to be preserved and restored because it has been exposed to damaging environmental conditions. During the action, I was wearing a hospital gown that I was putting on and off, while I was rotating around myself for five hours under the Murano chandelier at the main hall of Palazzo Mora. The piece taught me that I must give my body the time it needs to recover and that I have to accept that I do not have the power to fast forward  healing processes.
