At the End of the Day, 2016

At the End of the Day, 2016, emergency heat blanket, 4.5’x7′

This piece is a European flag, made out of an emergency heat blanket, similar to those that have been provided to the rescued refugees that are crossing the Mediterranean Sea. The twelve stars of the flag have been cut off the blanket. These star shape holes symbolize the failure of the European Union to support the refugees and the needy. In a period when racism, xenophobia, and financial crises are rising in Europe, the fragility of the material successfully visualizes the situation.
