Tears for You and Me is work of both satirical and caustic, which uses domestic work as a metaphor for the sacrifices often expected of women in the name of love, companionship, and family. By activating my body and my relationship with the audience, I turned a seemingly simple act into a commentary on the sensualization of female suffering and its transformation into a socially acceptable spectacle.

During the performance, I held sort conversations with the audience. I asked them, “What is your name? Do you cry when you cook? Do you cry because of the onions or for other reasons? What makes you cry?” Then, I gave them a small container with chopped onions and said: “Those are some tears from me to you. I wish you that from now on, you will only shed tears of joy.”
