Performance Paparouna – Attik

“The Poppy” is an old song by a great Greek composer
and songwriter named Kleon Triantafyllou, known with
the nickname “Attic”, wrote at
1935.
A free translation of the Greek words could go like this :
He had seen her dressed full in red
He was a grey haired artist
She was a lively little girl
Gathering poppies in a field
The passengers looked at her entranced
And slowly strolled by
But in the sunset he humbly said to
The living flower:
Happy poppy
As the passengers go past
They love you, but keep silent
And nobody will tell you:
Fiery poppy,
Envied poppy
The passerby whom you are waiting for, is looking for
another girl.
